Dr Peter Hill: Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

Dr Peter Hill began dental training in Otago University in 1985. After developing an interest in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) as an Oral Surgery Resident in Hobart, Peter went on to train in the specialty in Melbourne and Auckland. Having attained Medical and Masters’ degrees at the University of Melbourne Peter received the ANZAOMS medal as the top OMS trainee in the RACDS final fellowship examinations. He has worked in public and private practice as a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon in Auckland since 2002. Peter is now in full-time private practice in Takapuna and is a credentialed surgeon at North Harbour Southern Cross Hospital in Glenfield for patients requiring general anaesthesia for treatment.
Dr Hamish Cameron: Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

Hamish attended the University of Otago, graduating in 2003 BDS with Credit. He completed a year as a Dental House Officer in Dunedin before joining Defence. In the Regular Force, Hamish was commissioned to Captain, serving at Devonport, Waiouru and Whenuapai for almost 4 years as a Dental Officer. In 2009 Hamish returned to Dunedin to undertake the conjoint MDS/MB ChB programme. During these five years he trained in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and completed medicine, graduating in 2013 MDS with Distinction, MB ChB. Hamish completed his research thesis on “Prophylactic Third Molar Removal in NZDF Personnel” and has a particular interest in third molars and soft tissue lesions.
His first medical post was in Hawkes Bay as a House Officer completing runs in Cardiology, General and Vascular Surgery, Orthopaedics and General Medicine, then relocating to Auckland in 2015 doing General Medicine, Emergency and General Surgery runs while maintaining a healthy medical and oral surgery split.
As an Oral Surgeon Hamish provides exodontia services from simple extractions to impacted third molar removal and full clearances, biopsies and removal of lesions, pre-prosthetic grafting procedures, tori removal, dental implant therapy and apicectomies.
His interests outside work include skiing (having visited Canada, USA and Japan), running, scuba diving, travel and ethnic food. Hamish can actually tie a proper Windsor Knot!
Dr Todd Gracia: Endodontist
BDS (Otago), MDSc (Otago), MRACDS, Endodontist
Todd graduated with BDS from Otago University School of Dentistry in 1993. He earned numerous clinical prizes including the Gold Medal in Clinical Dentistry and a research scholarship.
Todd practiced in hospital and general dental practice before embarking upon specialist training in endodontics. He completed his Masters degree at Otago University in 2006 and has maintained an endodontic practice in Nelson since then.
Todd is a past president of the Nelson Dental Association and is an external clinical advisor for ACC in treatment injury. He joined Westlake Dental Specialists in 2023.

Outside of dentistry Todd enjoys cooking and gardening (he has won prizes for vegetables!) his lovey wife, Sara, who is a family lawyer with her own busy firm, his three adult children and has two of the most obedient and well trained dogs around who generally leave the chickens alone.
Todd was born and raised in semirural Taranaki, his great-grandfather was an Azorean who settled in Akaroa in 1860 but he’s mostly Irish.
Dr Jo Ann Pahl: Intravenous Conscious Sedation
MBChB (Otago), F.A.N.Z.C.A
Following graduation from Otago Medical School in Dunedin and Wellington, Jo Ann trained in Anaesthesia in Waikato and Christchurch. She gained her Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Anaesthetists in 2000. From there, Jo Ann worked as a Fellow in Western Australia and Consultant Anaesthetist at St John’s Hospital in Edinburgh, Scotland. She returned to Auckland in 2007 and developed a special interest in Travel Medicine. She now restricts her practice to delivery of intravenous sedation for patients requiring oral surgery and is a most important and valuable member of the team.
Dr Nina Scott: Endodontist
BDS (Otago) DClinDent (Endo)
Nina graduated from the University of Otago with a BDS (with credit) in 2006. She spent a year in Invercargill as a hospital dentist before spending the next seven years in Christchurch as a general dentist in a busy private practice. She returned to Dunedin and completed a clinical doctorate in Endodontics in 2017. Nina has been working in Auckland as a specialist Endodontist since then. Her doctoral research investigated traumatic dental injuries in the New Zealand adult population, and Nina has a particular interest in the management and outcomes of dental trauma.
Nina lives on the North Shore with her partner Dan and their two young girls. She enjoys walks with the family and dog, spending time at the beach with the girls, and seizing any opportunity to get out on the water wing-foiling.
